Mayflower Catering is proudly owned and operated by Anchorage local Edgar Duero. With nearly 40 years of experience as a professional chef, Duero got his start through a culinary apprenticeship in the Philippines with Intercontinental Hotels. In 1984 Duero began working for Holland America Cruise Line with their New Amsterdam Cruise Ship, which opened doors to travel all over the world and cook alongside skilled chefs of all cultures and backgrounds. This sparked a drive in Duero to integrate some of the different cultural aspects and ingredients he was exposed to in his travels into various exciting dishes of his own design.

Throught Mayflower Catering, Duero seizes an opportunity to provide others a chance to experience flavors and culinary styles from all over the world without ever having to board a cruise.Circa 1996, Duero spent time as one of the opening Sous Chef at the second largest casino in the Oregon State ( Chinook Wind Casino in Lincoln city, Oregon) Leading to his promotion to Executive chef shortly thereafter in 1997.That very same year, Duero secured the People’s Award for Oregon coast Chowder Cook Off. Duero also holds the impressive First Place Title in the Napa Valley Iron Chef Competition, 2007.

This place has phenomenal deals for good home cooking. Only $15.99 for the chicken and ribs combo with the yellow rice, cole slaw and rolls. And the chowder is the best I’ve ever had. We showed up right at close and the sweet man who runs the place was so nice. We can’t wait to go back! 5 stars all day long!!!

Chowder Express has a simple menu of bbq meats, soup and sides. However the flavor is on point with a price that rivals or is even better than alot of restaurants in Anchorage. Why spend $10 at McDonald's or any other fast food restaurant when you can get lunch that is lovingly prepared by a passionate chef. Take the time to drive to Mountain View, enjoy Mr. Edgar's beaming personality while he prepares you an awesome lunch.

Drove through for lunch. It was pretty quick and delicious! We got the pulled pork sandwiches which come with slaw, soup, a drink, and a brownie. Everything was cleanly presented and the owner was friendly.

Stopped through for a bowl of chowder at lunch, got a BBQ pulled pork sandwich, Cole slaw, a can soda, AND my bowl of chowder for $9.95. It was so good I came back at dinner time and bought the family combo. BBQ ribs, chicken, and pulled pork with rice and coleslaw for $29.95. it was enough to feed four of us and we have leftovers. I'll definitely be back.

First time going here, won't be my last. I tried the ribs at Chowder Express and they were amazing! The were dripping with juicy flavor that was out of this world. My coworkers also raved about the clam chowder, saying it was the best they've ever had. I'm so happy to have found a new go-to spot for ribs since Sourdough Mining Co. closed. I'll definitely be returning to Chowder Express again and again.

Tried for the first time today. Really great value for the food you get. The lunch daily special is great. Pork sandwich is bigger than I expected. Hunger was satisfied before even getting to the brownie. Clam chowder is tasty. Will be back.

I had low expectations going in but was very pleasantly surprised. We ordered the chicken satay lunch special and the BBQ sandwich lunch special. Both were delicious, and good portion sizes for an excellent price. I would strongly recommend you give them a chance!

Amazing!!! I picked up a family combo and some chowder for my co-workers and myself. The portions were generous for the price and all of the food was delicious, probably the best BBQ in town. This will be a regular spot to grab lunch for our office.

First time going to Chowder Express a few days ago, the BBQ was amazing, nice big chunks of clams in the chowder, and that great homemade taste! We are definitely going back. Best chowder I have had in a long time, if not ever!

Amazing food! Everything I got with the lunch meal was delicious and lots of food and a drink for under $10. Pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, chowder, brownie, and a drink. This week I tried the Filipino BBQ family pack and I was again pleasantly impressed. But since I never had Filipino BBQ before I took the family meal to my coworkers Nico and Scott who are from the Philippines and they said they felt like they were back home it was so authentic.
Chef Nico actually worked under Chef Edgar from Chowder Express while at Sky Chef and Chef Nico said the BBQ sauce separated Chowder Express' from the rest of the Filipino BBQ restaurants in Anchorage.

Amazing chowder and fresh baked bread. The family meal was cooked perfectly and served in appropriate containers for traveling home. Highly recommend giving this small business a try. The owner was polite and positive along with the person answering the phones.
